I've been waiting to see the Kenyan Science Fiction short film Pumzi (2010) since I heard about it last year. It is now available on Netflix under a collection of films called Africa First: Volume One (2011). Pumzi was really good, and the other films were diverse and interesting too.
 

On Monday night I went to go see "Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale" at the Lagoon Cinema in Uptown. I highly recommend it! It's a Finnish independent film, very off beat, and very good. gotmoof rented via NetFlix the BBC mini-series "Jekyll". We watched it this weekend. Wow! I was hooked in the first few minutes. A lot of fun. It's kind of a sequel to the Victorian horror novella Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. rebisbear promised me twists and turns right up to the end, and I wasn't disappointed.
 

jbj_bear gets major props for hooking me up with these. I've got 10 tickets (5 passes each good for two people) for tomorrow's sneak preview of Shrek the Third; and because popcorn is best shared, I'm letting all of you, my beloved LJ friends in on the goodness.
